Overview

Pokalde Peak climbing is one of the popular and sought after Climbing Peaks In Nepal. Pokalde Peak lies in Everest region and is a trekking peak with an altitude of 5806m. Apart from the challenge of climbing Pokalde Peak, another major challenges of this trek and climbing adventure is the crossing of Kongma La Pass (5535m), perhaps one of the highest Himalayan passes in Nepal. 
 
You will be trekking through Everest Region, home of Mt. Everest and the Sherpas. Some of the highlights of Pokalde Peak climbing include visit to Namche Bazaar, the capital of Sherpa community. While on this trek you enjoy the culture and hospitality of world famous Sherpa people by visiting Sherpa  villages and rare natural biodiversity such as snow leopards and Himalayan Tahr.  
 
The climbing of Pokalde Peak is mildly difficult as you will require some skills of walking through some rocky trails and ice climbing techniques. Along the trail you will be able to glimpse majestic views of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Makalu, Cholatse, Nuptse among others. Further the summit of Pokalde Peak offers splendid views of Pumori, Island peak, Ama Dablam, Makalu, Tawoche peak, Thamserku etc. 

Trip Itinerary

On your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be met and welcomed by our airport representative. You will be greeted traditionally with flower garlands. The representative will then take you to your hotel where you will be served welcome drinks. In the afternoon, you can take a stroll around and visit shops, restaurants and bars. Stay overnight at the hotel. 

Free day in Kathmandu for preparation of the trip. Checking your climbing equipments, and discussing the climb with the climbing/trekking guide. Stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

After early-morning breakfast, our guide will pick you up from the hotel and drive to the domestic airport terminal. Receive your boarding pass and fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2886m.) that takes about 35 minutes. The flight offers you up close views of the Himalayas and romantic landscapes of hills, farms and rivers. 

On arrival to Lukla, you will begin 3 hours trek to Phakding (2640 m.). You start your trek from Lukla with a gentle climb up the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi River. Mt. Nupla (5885m) which can be seen in the distance is a peak atop the Kongde Ridge. You descend a mountainside path that merges into your route to Everest, with views to a wonderful valley to your right; and Mt. Kusum Kang (6367m.) to the far end. Stay overnight at lodge.

Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m) takes approximately five hours. Namche Bazaar (3440m) is surrounded on three sides by mountain ranges and faces the Bhote Koshi to the South. Stay overnight at lodge.

A day for rest at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization. It is an ideal place to spend acclimatizing with the high altitude. For acclimatization you walk up to Khumjung where you can visit a monastery. You can also enjoy the splendid views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, Tawoche, and Kwangde and so on. Or you can take an hour's walk up to Syangboche (3800m.) where Everest View Hotel is situated above Namche for outstanding views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kangaru. Stay overnight at lodge.

Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tyangboche (3867m.) takes about five hours. As you climb through the forested zone, the incline eases and a splendid view appears. You continue climbing the mountainside diagonally until you come to the stone gate built by the lamas which marks your entry into Tyangboche (3860m). Stay overnight at lodge.

Trek from Tyangboche to Dingboche (4260m.) takes approximately five hours. Dingboche is a beautiful patchwork of fields enclosed by stone walls protecting the crops of barley, buckwheat and potatoes from the cold winds and grazing animals. Stay overnight at lodge.

Rest day at Dingboche (4260 m.) for acclimatization. There are some breathtaking views of the North face of Ama Dablam and the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge as you explore this beautiful valley that leads up to Island Peak. The walk is short with a good chance to relax in the afternoon. Another option is to hike up to Chhukum, where you can enjoy the panoramic view of Island peak, Ama Dablam, Makalu, Tawoche peak and others. Stay overnight at lodge.

Trek from Dingboche to Pokalde Base Camp (4,900m.) takes about 5 hours.

The trek from Dingboche to Pokalde Base Campa involves steep climbing and some difficult trails. At the base camp you will be able to enjoy the serene glacial lake and spectacular views of of Mt. Makalu, Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Nuptse among others. Stay overnight at camp.

Climb from Pokalde Peak Base Camp to High Camp (5,400m.) takes about 5 and half hours.

After early morning breakfast, you will carry your rucksack and head towards the high camp. One of the major challenges today is while crossing the Kongma La Pass 5535m, perhaps one of the highest Himalayan passes. As you reach the higher elevation you will be able to see many frozen lakes and majestic views of Pokhalde Peak, Cholatse, Nuptse, Lhotse, Makalu, Ama Dablam. Stay overnight at High Camp.

Climb Pokalde Peak Summit and trek to Chhukung (4,730m.) takes about 8 and half hours.

Today you will reach the summit of Pokalde Peak, our goal of this trek. The trail from high base camp to the peak will take about 3 hours and follows difficult walk along stones, rocks and ice. Our Sherpa will teach you some ice climbing and glacier walking techniques. The walk to the Pokalde Peak is worth every effort as the summit will allow the most breathtaking and rewarding panoramic views of the world’s highest mountains including Mt Makalu, Ama Dablam, Cholatse, Nuptse, Pumori,etc. 

After spending some time on the peak we will retrace our steps over Kongma La Pass and drop down to Chhukung. Stay overnight at lodge.

Trek from Chhukung to Tyangboche (3867 m.) takes approximately four hours. Tyangboche is a small village with a famous monastery offering you splendid views of Ama Dablam, lush green hills and river views.  Stay overnight at lodge. 

Trek from Tyangboche to Namche Bazaar (3440 m) takes about four and a half hours. The walk from Tyangboche is mostly downhill on the main busy trail with a few steep climbs for an hour from the bridge at Phungitenga, near to Shanasha. The walk to Namche is very scenic on a long winding path. En route you will visit traditional villages of Khumjung and Khunde. From Khumjung village another 30 minutes walk brings you to the village of Khunde. Stay overnight at lodge.

Trek from Namche Bazaar to Phakding (2640m.) takes about four hours. The trails descend steeply for about one and a half hours. After that, the path follows few ups and downs to Phakding via Monjo. Stay overnight at lodge.

Trek from Phakding to Lukla (2886m) takes about three hours. Your final day's trekking follows the Dudh Koshi back down to Lukla. Stay overnight in Lukla.

Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu takes 35 minutes. You take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu. Stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Free day in Kathmandu for shopping or you can go for city tour. Stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu. 

As per your flight schedule, our airport representative will transfer you from your hotel to the airport for your final departure.
