Highlights

    • Mt. Manaslu (8163m.), the eighth highest mountain in the world
    • Gurkha Massif that lies in the west central part of Nepal

Overview

At 8163m, Mount Manaslu is the eighth highest mountain in the world thus Manaslu Expedition is quite an intimidating attraction for many climbers.

The Manaslu peak is part of the Mansiri Himal or Gurkha Massif that lies in the west central part of Nepal, around 100km northwest of Kathmandu. The mountain falls in the Manaslu Conservation Area and is closer to Annapurna Himal to the west and Ganesh Himal to the east. The local name for Manaslu is Kutang. Manaslu is a name derived from the Sanskrit dialect, which means "Mountain of the Spirit"

Manaslu was first climbed in 1956 by a Japanese expedition team led by Yuji Maki, Toshio Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu Sherpa. There are six established approach to the peak, of which the southwest and east ridge route are considered normal routes.

The base camp is set up at 4800m and there will be a total of 4 or 5 camps before reaching the summit. The stretch from Camp 4 to the summit is an extensive walking through steep ridges while the route from Camp 1 to Camp 2 is full of seracs. It is a bit technical with steep snow slopes and ice climbing.

It is mandatory for climbers to have adequate experience for Manaslu Expedition, after all this is an 8000-ers and technically challenging at that. The mountain's long ridges, seracs, steep snow slopes, and glaciers make it the most fascinating as well as risky mountain. Frequent snowfall, avalanches and blizzards have also added to make the mountain 4th dangerous mountain in the world.

With our experienced Sherpas who have already climbed Manaslu and high-altitude porter, your goal of Manaslu Expedition to reach the summit will be achieved successfully. We will provide expedition logistics, arrange trekking and climbing permits and offer all necessary assistance.
