Highlights

Overview

Everest-Gokyo Trek offers an alternative route to exploring both Khumbu Valley and Gokyo Lake. The journey begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the starting point of the trek.

From Lukla, we will walk along the Bhote Koshi River towards Namche Bazaar. Along the way we will pass through forests and typical Sherpa villages. Namche Bazaar is the capital of Sherpa community. Here you will be able to spend some days acclimatizing with the altitude and observing Sherpa culture and lifestyles. You can visit the Khumjung School in Khumbu Valley, founded by Sir Edmund Hillary and hike up to Syanboche airport.

Our next stop will be at Tengboche Monastery, perhaps the biggest monastery on this side of the Himalaya. From here you will be able to glimpse the best views of Ama Dablam and other mountains.

Our journey further takes us to Kalapathhar (5643m), a 2 hour arduous walk to the top from Gorakshep. Kalapathar is the best vantage point to see Everest up close and personal along with other mountains.

You will then cross the Cho La Pass (5430), one of the highest passes, and descend to Gokyo Lake. Gokyo Lake (5000m) is a treasure of the Himalayas, one of the highest lakes in the Himalayas. You will traverse your way back to Lukla for your return flight to Kathmandu.

Nepal Environmental Treks & Expedition has been organizing treks in Everest region since 1990. We can customize and personalize the program as per our clients’ interests, budget and timeframe.
