Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the most popular treks that takes you on a memorable journey towards the foot of Everest. Although there are several different routes to trek the Everest region, this is the classic trail, which follows in the footsteps of Edmund Hillary & Tenzing Norgay Sherpa.

Everest Base Camp Trek begins with a short, scenic and adventurous fight to Lukla. It is only a matter of a day or two before you reach Namche, the capital of world famous Sherpa community, where you will be able to enjoy Sherpa culture and hospitality. The visit to Tenboche Monastery, one of the biggest monasteries in the Himalayan region, and the beautiful and spectacular view of Mt. Ama Dablam from here will captivate you forever. The Everest region is dotted with mani walls, chortens and monasteries. Tengboche, Dingboche, Gorakshep

Much of the the trail further passes through the Sagarmatha National Park which is home to a rich and well protected biodiversity. The forest of firs, junipers, birch, rhododendron, blue pines is harbours such wild and rare birds and animals as Monal, Blood Pheasant, Chough, Red Panda, Langur Monkeys, Martens and Wolves. In the final part, the trail follows the Khumbu Glacier with huge ice pinnacles soaring to unbelievable heights.

The major highlight of the Everest Base Camp Trek is the visit to Everest Base Camp. Located at an altitude of 5364m, Everest Base Camp is visited by thousands of trekkers every year. It is also the launch point for reaching the summit of Everest for mountaineers. The Base Camp provides a grandeur views of Mt. Everest and Lhotse. If that is not enough you will finally hike to Kala Pathhar or black rock nearby to see a breathtaking panorama of tallest Himalayas including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Ama Dablam, Cholatse, Pumori among others.

Everest Base Camp trek from Jiri

Today I came back after a 24 days trekking to Everest Base Camp. We started from Jiri, which is a good thing to do since you see beautiful views, it’s very quiet and it’s a good preparation for the mountains. My guide’s name was Bhimsen Paneru and he’s a great guy ! Unfortunately I got sick twice (Altitude Sickness ).but Bhimsen took good care of me ! He decided to go down and was very caring. After that we tried again and we had some stunning views ! So hereby I can recommend this trip !

    Everest Base Camp Trek

Trekking with Ramesh Paneru is an absolute delight. His knowledge of Khumbu's trail and peaks is both impressive and reassuring (other guides and porters regularly ask him the way). His nature is kind and generous (he sings and smiles and offers jokes and all jokes at just the right time). And he is as intent on sharing what he can of the Napali culture and politics with trekkers as he is with safety acclimatizing them on their way toward their destination. As for the trek itself, the views from Kala Patthar on a clear morning speak for themselves they are nothing short of brutally magnificient. As for Ramesh I recommend him with great enthusiasm and without reservation, and look forward to returning to Nepal to trek with him again.

    Steven Harmsen

    Everest Base Camp

The toughest part of the trip is getting your body used to "squatting". The up and down hiking, for me, was an opportunity to push my body and mental toughness. Sadly due to Monsoon season, I was unable to see Mt. Everest. On the other hand, the goal of the trip was not to see Everest rather to make it to Base Camp. In this regard our trip was very successful. Our guide introduced us to many people that shared plethora & stories of Everest ascents, adventures and travels. K.B.(our guide) was strong, competent and very knowledgeable. He knew the exact heights of every mountain peaks pass and village along our trip. Furthermore he could estimate with tremendous accuracy, the distance and times to the next destination. An overall success and a great experience.
