Overview

Gauri Shankar Trek is an adventurous trek into Rolwaling Valley, a less crowded remote Himalayan landscape. Originally called Jomo Tseringma, Gauri Shankar (7130m) is a mountain in Rolwaling Himalayan range. Gauri Shankar is located in Dolakha district and is distinctly visible from Kathmandu Valley. 
 
During the trek, you will be rewarded with the pleasure of walking through highlands, meadows, along rivers and waterfalls. You will have plenty of time interacting with locals, visiting Buddhist monasteries and experience cultural and natural biodiversity. 
 
The Gauri Shankar trek passes through Gauri Shankar Conservation Area, which is home to 16 varieties of vegetation, 235 species of birds and 34 species of mammals. Red Panda and rhododendron remains the main attraction of this protected area. 
 
The trail offers spectacular panorama of Gauri Shankar (Mt. Jomo Tseringma), Mt. Rolwaling, Mt. Melungtse (7181m), Mt. Ramdung, Mt. Pachermo, etc.  The maximum altitude reached during this trek is 3600m. from where you can enjoy the view of the glacial lake Tso Rolpa and Rolwaling glacier.
 
The Gauri Shankar Trek is categorized as being moderate in terms of difficulty. Hence all types of travelers can enjoy this trek. This is a purely camping trek. The best seasons of the year to do Gauri Shankar trek is either Spring (March-May) or Autumn (Sep-Nov).

Trip Itinerary

Drive from Kathmandu to Shigati (950m.) via Dolakha (9 hours). Stay overnight in camp.

Trek from Shigati to Jagat (1440m/6hrs). Stay overnight in camp.

Trek from Jagat to Simigaon (2020m/6.30hrs). Stay overnight in camp.

Trek from Simigaon to Daldung La (3976m/6hrs). Stay overnight in camp.

Trek from Daldung La to Beding (3690m/6h.30m). Stay overnight in camp.

Rest day at Beding for acclimatization. Stay overnight in camp.

Trek from Beding to Na (4180m/4hrs). Stay overnight in camp.

Rest Day at Na. (view point sightseeing). Stay overnight in camp.

Trek from Na to Beding (4180m/4hrs). Stay overnight in camp.

Trek from Beding to Daldung La (3976m/6 hrs). Stay overnight in camp.

Trek from Daldung la to Simigaon (6hrs). Stay overnight in camp.

Trek from Simigaon to Jagat (6.30hrs). Stay overnight in camp.

Trek from Jagat to Shigati (6hrs). Stay overnight in lodge.

Drive from Shigati to Kathmandu (6 hours).
