Kanchenjunga Region Trek

Kanchenjunga Trek is an adventurous trek in the northeast of Nepal. The trek takes you on a journey to the base of Mt. Kanchenjunga (8586m), the third highest mountain in the world that straddles the borders of Sikkim and Tibet (China).

Kanchenjunga trekking region that includes Kanchenjunga Conservation Area is recognized as an ecological hotspot, Gift of the Earth by WWF. The vegetation here ranges from rhododendrons, orchids and juniper in the lower belt to scrubland, grassland and meadows in the Alpine range.  As many as 23 species of rhododendrons have been recorded here along with 2000 flowering plant species. The flagship species of the area are Snow Leopard, Asiatic Black Bear, Red Panda and Musk Deer. 

The trek allows you to walk through pristine forests, experience local culture of Rai and Limbu ethnic communities and enjoy magnificent views of Kanchenjunga peaks. Simbua Khola,, Ghunsa and the Tamur valley are the three picturesque valleys of Kanchenjunga. You will have plenty of opportunity to interact with locals, learn their lifestyles and cuisines and visit beautiful monasteries and temples.  

 The Kanchenjunga trek takes you to a maximum altitude of 5180m above sea level. Several high Himalayan passes including Sele La (4290m), Miring-la (4,645 m) Sinlapche pass (4,645 m) are to be crossed making the trek all the more challenging. The passes offers you spectacular views of Kanchjunga, Tuplung, Kabaru, Rathong, Jannu, Nyukla Lachung, Dromo, Kabru, Yalungkang, Kirat Chuli and Kangbachen peaks. Enroute to Kanchenjunga Base Camp, you will also get to explore the beautiful Kanchenjunga Glacier and Yalung Glacier.

Kanchenjunga Trek is purely a camping trek that requires at least three weeks to complete the circuit. However, it can be done over different duration depending on your interests and time. Kanchenjunga Base Camp, Kanchenjunga South And North Trek, Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek are some of the trekking options available in this area.

This trek has to be booked in advance period of atleast 3 months. Royalty fees are implied in this trek and the minimum number of 4 participants are required for this trek. This is the real base camp for Mt. Kanchenjunga Climbing from India, Sikkim.
