Annapurna Circuit Jomsom Trek offers superb views of Annapurna and Mount Dhaulagiri and a train of contrasting landscapes ranging from sub-tropical and alpine to arid semi-desert. At the climax of the trek there is a formidable 5416m pass, called the Thorong La, one of the highest passes in the Himalayas. Thorong La in Tamang language means ‘cock is croaking, begin your day’.

During Annapurna Circuit Jomsom Trek, you will also visit the temple of Chumig Gyatsa or Muktinath. In Tibetan language, Chumig Gyatsa means hundred waters. Chumig Gyatsa is an important shrine for Buddhists as well as Hindus and hosts a mud statue of Buddha and an eternal flame. You will trek down from Muktinath via Kagbeni to arrive at the town of Dzong Sam or Jomsom.

Formerly known as Dzong-Sam or new fort, Jomsom is a town inhabited by Thakali people. The town is located on the banks of Kali Gandaki river and affords beautiful views of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri mountains. Kali Gandaki valley has the deepest gorge in the world along with beautiful monasteries and chorten walls.
