Overview

Drive in / Fly out Tibet Tour is a short and adventurous tours to one of the magical places on earth, Tibet. This journey starts from Kathmandu with a short drive to Kerung, a border point between Tibet and Nepal. You will then jump on a four wheel drive across the vast breathtaking landscape of Tibet.
 
Along the way enjoy a spectacular  panorama of beautiful Himalayan ranges including Mt. Everest (8,848m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201m) and Mt. Sishapangma (8,012m). The adventurous crossing of three highest passes, namely Gyatchu La(5,220m), Karo-La(5,010m) and Kamba-La (4,749m) will be a thrilling experience along with the exploration of Yamdrok- Tso Lake and Yarlung Tsangpo River, which forms the lifeline of Tibetan civilization.
 
The ultimate climax of this tour is the two days sightseeing tour of ancient Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, featuring Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Market, Drepung and Sera Monasteries. 

Trip Itinerary

Early morning drive from Kathmandu (1310m) to Kerung Border(2800m) takes about 8-9 hours. Enjoy the beautiful hills and rivers along the way. Cross over to Tibet region of China after going through official border formalities. 

Stay overnight at a gueshouse.

Drive from Kerung Town(2800m) to Tengri(4,300m)/ Lhatse(4,350m) takes about  6 hrs. Drive through exotic Tibetan landscape with breathtaking panorama of beautiful Himalayan ranges including Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201m) and Mt. Sishapangma (8,012m). Tengri offers spectacular view of Mt. Everest (8,848m).

Stay Overnight at a guesthouse.

Drive from Tengri(4,300m)/ Lhatse(4,350m) to Shigatse(3,900m) takes about 5 hrs.  The drive makes a scenic crossing over Gyatchu La(5,220m),the highest pass en route to Lhasa. En route you will stop over at Lhatse from where a road to Mt.Kailash bifurcates to the west. You can spend rest of the afternoon in Shigatse, home to Tashilhumpu Monastery.

Stay overnight at hotel.

Drive from Shigatse(3,900m) to Gyantse (3,950m) takes about 5 hrs. You will continue driving through the vast expanse of Tibetan landscape. You can visit Kumbum Stupa and Phalkhor Monastery in Gyantse.

Stay Overnight at hotel. 

Drive from Gyantse(3,950m) -  Lhasa(3,650m) takes about 6 hrs. After Breakfast full day picturesque drive crossing over two high passes, namely Karo-La(5,010m), Kamba-La (4,749m). On the way you will stop over to appreciate the ethereal beauty and serenity of the colorful Yamdrok- Tso Lake and Yarlung Tsangpo River.
Stay Overnight at hotel.

Two days Sightseeing in Lhasa(3,600m). The sightseeing tour of Lhasa includes such landmarks as Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Market, Drepung, Sera Monasteries etc.

Stay Overnight at Hotel.

Fly from Lhasa to Kathmandu takes about 2 hrs.  After Breakfast drive to Gonggar Airport or Train Station for your departure flight to Kathmandu or to your onward destination.
