Shree Mahendra Ratna Lower Secondary School destroyed by 25April 2015 Earthquake

Budathum Village is a remote village located in Dhading District, some 120 km from the capital city of Kathmandu. The village is yet to be connected by roads and majority of the inhabitants here are farmers who are engaged in subsistence farming. Poverty and lack of education are two main challenges for village development.

The 2015 earthquake completely destroyed the Shree Mahendra Ratna Lower Secondary School located in Galane-7, Budathum Village. The school is still awaiting for adequate funding to be rebuilt. Ever since approximately 300 students have been taking classes in temporary shelters made out of corrugated sheets. The school runs classes up to 8th grade.

Nepal Environmental Treks & Expedition has been conducting school volunteering programs for international volunteers, students and tourists in Shree Mahendra Ratna Lower Secondary School in Budathum Village of Dhading District.

We would like to invite interested international volunteers, students and tourists who wish to contribute their time volunteering in this school. You will be spending time teaching and playing with kids, exchanging skills with villagers and learning about local culture and lifestyles. Accommodation and food will be provided and arranged by community group. You can stay from one week up to several months depending on your time availability and interest.

Currently positions are available for English, Math and Science teachers, Sports Coach, Extra curricular activities mentor, Clown, Varieties shows and School reconstruction volunteers etc.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Budhathum.

Drive from Kathmandu to Budhathum. Stay overnight at Homestay.

Day 04 onwards: Volunteering Days

Volunteering Days. This can varry according to your interest and timeframe.

Day 05: Drive from Budhathum to Kathmandu

Head towards your next Tour/Adventure activities of interest like, Short Trekking, City Tours, Jungle Safari, Mountain Flights etc..

Or,

Drive back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. Stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 06: Free day in Kathmandu for shopping or you can go for city tour.

Day 07: Final Depature

As per your flight schedule, our airport representative will transfer you from your hotel to the airport for your final departure.
