Overview

Hiunchuli Peak (6441m) is fourth highest peak among the 'Climbing Peaks' in Nepal. It is one of the least difficult expedition and lies in the Annapurna range. It is  first explored by Col. Jimmy Roberts. 
 
Hiunchuli peak lies in the Annapurna range along with Tharpu Chuli and Singu Chuli. The mountain was first climbed in 1971 by an expedition led by U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer Craig Anderson. The mountain is full of seracs and rockfalls which present a formidable challenge for even the experienced climbers. The Hiunchuli peak is reached through Southeast Face or Northwest Face. The climbing will inevitabley involve trekking through majestic Annapurna region and appreciating its beauty and biodiversity. 
 
Hiunchuli, at a height of 6,441 meters, forms a massive south-facing wall together with Annapurna South. Its eastern face overlooks the Modi Khola and guards the entrance to the Annapurna Sanctuary. This part is mainly dominated by Gurung and the mountains of this area are sacred to them.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu.

On your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be met and welcomed by our airport representative. You will be greeted traditionally with flower garlands. The representative will then take you to your hotel where you will be served welcome drinks. In the afternoon, you can take a stroll around and visit shops, restaurants and bars. Stay overnight at the hotel. 

Day 2 : Free day in Kathmandu for preparation of the trip.

Day 3 : Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (914m.) takes about seven hours.

After early morning breakfast, our guide will pick you-up from your hotel to bus station. Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (914m.) takes about seven hours. This drive will take most of the morning, leaving much of the afternoon to explore the various sites of Pokhara.

Pokhara is tourist's paradise with full of natural as well as cultural heritage sites such as lakes, caves, temples of Buddhist and Hindus along with mountains. You can observe views to the north across the hills and Phewa Tal (lake) to the white peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 4 : Drive from Pokhara (915 m.) to Nayapul (1050m.) takes approximately one and half hours.

Drive from Pokhara (915 m.) to Nayapul (1050m.) takes approximately one and half hours. Now you begin your trek from Nayapul (1050m.) to Tirkhedhunga (1577 m.) via Birethanti (1065m.) which takes about four and half hours. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 5 : Trek from Tirkhedhunga to Ghorepani (2675 m.) takes approximately 5 hours.

Trek from Tirkhedhunga to Ghorepani (2675 m.) takes approximately 5 hours. The trail this day will be fairly tough. The first 2 hours of the trail steeply ascends up to Birethanthi and then levels up till Ghorepani. The section from Ulleri to Birethanthi provides spectacular views of snowcapped mountains, especially Machapuchre (Mt. Fishtail). You can also enjoy the beautiful rhododendron flowers during March and April along the trail between Birethanthi and Ghorepani. Stay overnight in Ghorepani.

Annapurna I (8091m.), Annapurna South (7219m.), Annapurna III (7855m.), Machhapuchhare (6993m.), Annapurna IV (7525m.), Annapurna II (7937m.), Lamjung Himal (6931m.)

You will descend back to Ghorepani for breakfast. Afterwards you will trek towards Tadapani (2630m) largely through forests. Stay overnight at lodge in Tadapani. You can clearly see the Himalayas such as Annapurna South, Himchuli and Macchapuchre. 

Day 7 : Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (2950m) takes about 3 hours.

Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (2950m) takes about 3 hours. It is a very easy trek by descending gently all the way through rhododendron, oak and other kinds of dense forests. This is one of the popular destinations for the birds' lovers. Ghandruk is a big Gurung village. From this village you can see good views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna (7455m.), Annapurna III (7755m.) and Fishtail. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 8 : Trek from Ghandruk to Chhomrong takes approximately 4 hours.

Trek from Ghandruk to Chhomrong takes approximately 4 hours. At the beginning of the day, you ascend gently for an hour up to Ghandrukkot (2100m.) and descend steeply to the Kimrung Khola (1700m.). Chhomrong is a gateway to Annapurna Sanctuary trek and inhabited by Gurung, one of the major ethnic groups of Nepal. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 9 : Trek from Chhomrong to Dovan (2600m) takes approximately 5 hours.

Trek from Chhomrong to Dovan (2600m) takes approximately 5 hours. The train in the beginning descends until you cross a small bridge. From here it’s a long steep ascent up to Sinuwa. Enjoy local farming in terraced landscapes all around. Stay overnight in lodge. 

Day 10 : Trek from Dovan to Macchapuchre Base Camp (3700m) takes about five hours.

The trail ahead is devoid of any villages until we reach Sinuwa, where there used to be a checkpost, the last village of the trail. You trek gently ascend through bamboo forests with varieties of rhododendron and oak trees up to Macchapuchre Base Camp. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 11 : Trek from Macchauchre Base Camp (3720m) to Annapurna Base Camp (4170m) takes about two hours.

Annapurna Base Camp is a vantage point to see the Himalayas at a 360 degree turn. Some of the impressive ones include Mount Hiunchuli (6441m.), Annapurna South (7229m.), Annapurna I (8091m.), Annapurna III (7555m.), Gangapurna (7454m.) and Machhapuchhare or Fish Tail (6997m.) etc. You can explore Annapurna South Glaciers in detail. Stay overnight at lodge. 

Day 12 : Trek from Annapurna Base Camp to Annapurna South Base Camp which takes about five hours.

Day 13 : Trek from Annapurna South Base Camp to Hiunchuli High Camp which takes about five hours.

Trek from Annapurna South Base Camp to Hiunchuli High Camp which takes about five hours. The rocky trail goes straight up to High Camp. You can enjoy the same views of earlier day. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 14 : Climb Hiunchuli Camp I.

Climb Hiunchuli Camp I. At the summit you can have closer panoramic views of Annapurna I, Fish tail, Singu Chuli, Tent peak and many more. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 15 : Climb Hiunchuli Camp II.

Climb Hiunchuli Camp II. This day you will enjoy the same views of earlier days. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 16 : Summit Hiunchuli peak and back to Hiunchuli Camp II.

Day 17 : Walk down to Annapurna South Base Camp.

Day 19 : Trek from Annapurna Base Camp to Dovan (2630m.) takes about five hours.

Day 20 : Trek from Dovan to Jhinudanda (1750m.) takes about six hours.

Trek from Dovan to Jhinudanda (1750m.) takes about six hours. The path is descent up to Bamboo passing through forests with varieties of rhododendron, oaks and bamboo plants. After Bamboo, the trail goes steeply up to the Kuldi Ghar and now the trail is quite flat until you reach Sinuwa. You trek gradually descends to the Chhomrong Khola and you have to follow stone staircase for almost an hour to reach Chhomrong. The last part of the trail is steeply down to Jhinudanda. From the town you walk down for 20 minutes to reach Hot Spring at the bank of the Modi Khola. You can unwind yourself at the hot springs. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 21 : Trek from Jhinudanda to Pothana (1600m.) takes about five hours.

Trek from Jhinudanda to Pothana (1600m.) takes about five hours. For the first part of the trek is a descent. Here you find beautiful waterfalls. Beyond this town, the trail ascends gently crossing numerous streams and terraces. After short trek, you will be at Landruk (1640m.). Now the trail gently ascends to Tolka (1850m.) and then ascends to Bherikharka. From here, the trail goes steeply up to Deurali (2100m.) with a view of different mountain peaks in panorama. Now, the trail gradually descends to Pothana passing through different oak forests. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 22 : Trek from Pothana to Dhampus Phedi takes approximately three hours and drive from Dhampus Phedi to Pokhara by car.

Trek from Pothana to Dhampus Phedi takes approximately three hours and drive from Dhampus Phedi to Pokhara by car. The trail gently descends to Dhampus, a village mainly inhabited by Gurungs. Now you trek through flat land for some distance and steeply descend to Dhampus Phedi. Now you drive from Dhampus Phedi to Pokhara. Stay overnight at hotel in Pokhara.

Day 23 : Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu takes about seven hours.

Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu takes about seven hours. While driving from Pokhara to Kathmandu, you head up to Damauli, Dumre, Muglin and Kurintar where Nepal's first Cable car is operated to reach to Manakamana Temple. From Naubishe you climb up to Thankot, the gateway to capital city of Kathmandu. 

Day 24 : Free day in Kathmandu for shopping or you can go for city tour.

Day 25 : Departure

As per your flight schedule, our airport representative will transfer you from your hotel to the airport for your final departure.
