This trek will offer you panoramic views of Himalayas as well a romantic trek along the rolling green hills. You can spend plentiful time amidst the natural surroundings of Nagarkot. In the clear weather the Himalayan range, stretching from Dhaulagiri in the west all the way past Everest to Kanchenjunga in the east, can be easily viewed from this place. Early sunrise view at Nagarkot is the most fascinating and mesmerising experience.

The village of Nagarkot is on the edge of the valley and offers superb views of the mountains as well as Kathmandu valley. In addition to this, the trail from Nagarkot to Changunarayan is filled with cultural experiences.

Other attraction of this trek is the visit to Sankhu, Chanug Narayan and Bhaktapur. Bhaktapur houses the 15th century palace of 55 windows, durbar square and many other historic monuments and cultural heritages and it is a world heritage site. 

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Drive from Kathmandu to Sankhu

Drive from Kathmandu to Sankhu takes approximately one hour and trek from Sankhu to Nagarkot takes about three and half hours.

Day 2 : Trek from Nagarkot to Changunarayan

Trek from Nagarkot to Changunarayan takes approximately three and half hours and drive from Changunarayan to Kathmandu takes about one and half hours. The most popular walk leads down from Nagarkot along a ridge to the temple of Changunarayan-with views of Sankhu village to the right and Bhaktapur to the left. Changunarayan is situated at the end of a long ridge which runs well into the valley. It is said to have been built in 323 AD by King Hari Datta Varma. The temple is richly decorated with sculptures and carvings. It is said to be the oldest temple in the valley. After excursion in and around Changunarayan you board the vehicle to get back to Kathmandu.
