Highlights

Overview

Yalung Ri is one of the smaller and easier Trekking Peaks. Located in West Rolwaling Valley in the east-central Nepal, adjacent to Tibet/China border, Yalung Ri is one of the least visited Trekking Peaks in Nepal. It is surrounded by other popular mountains such as Ramdung (5930m), Chugmage (6259m), Chobulse (6689m) etc.

Yalung Ri is graded F on the difficult scale, which makes it relatively easier to climb. The mountain consists mainly of rock, ice and glaciers on the higher spots. There is no need to apply for peak permit to climb the mountain, however you will require mountaineering equipments.
The Trekking Journey starts from Singati passing through the villages of Suri Dhoban, Jagat, Simi Gaon, Kelchey up until Nagaon (4183m). The base camp will be set up at 4750m.  The total time to reach the summit from the base camp takes about 4 hours.

Once the peak is climbed you can either return the same way you came or go over to Tso Rolpa to cross Tashi Lapcha pass. At  5755m, Tashi Lapcha is one of the highest and difficult passes to overcome. As you move ahead, you will follow the trail through Thengpo and drop down to Namceh Bazar. Along the way you will be able to enjoy the supreme Himalayas, beautiful flowers, local hospitality and pristine wildlife.

Nepal Environmental Treks & Expedition regularly operates trekking and climbing expedition in this route. You can successfully climb Yalung Ri peak with the support of our experienced guides, sherpas and porters.
