After early morning breakfast, drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal (1350m) that takes about one and a half hour along the paved road. Climb off at Sundarijal bus station and begin your trek uphill Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve. Stop at Mulkharka village for lunch and thereafter ascend to Borlang Bhanjyang (2430m) and trek down to Chisopani (2215m). Chisopani offers magnificent views from Annapurna to Everest and beautiful sunrise and sunset views.

Trek from Kutumsang to Melamchi Gaon (2640m) via Tharepati Pass (3650m) takes about seven and half hours. The trek continues north up the Yurin Danda ridge and affords the views of the peaks. The trail climbs above Kutumsang on a steep, eroded trail, mostly through fir and rhododendron forest where there are no permanent settlements.
The trail then descends to Magen Goth only to gradually ascend through the enchanting forest of beautiful rhododendron, oak and other trees. In fact, Tharepati is a great view point from where you can have breathtaking snow-capped mountains such as Dorje Lakpa, Gauri Shankar, Langshisa, Jugal, Numbur and many others.
From Tharepati, the trail gradually descends through the pine and rhododendron forest with great views of Helambu valley, Jugal Himal and Numbur. Melamchi Gaon is surrounded by beautiful forests, which is mainly inhabited by Sherpa people with their distinctive Buddhist culture.

Trek from Melamchi Gaon to Tarkeghyang (2743m.) takes about six hours. The early part of the trek drops until you cross Melamchi stream. Now you trek gently up to Tarkeghyang, which is a beautiful Sherpa village hosting one of the oldest and biggest monasteries. Tarkeghyang, also known as Helambu, is named after Sherpa people of Hyolmo caste.

Trek from Tarkeghyang to Timbu (1580m) takes about 4 hours and then drive from Timbu to Kathmandu which takes another 4 hours. The trail gradually descends from Tarkeghyang until Kakani (2070m) and from there on steeply drops through green hills and forests to Timbu.
Then drive from Timbu to Kathmandu is on a dusty and pebble road, only used by 4 wheel jeep and public buses.
