Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) organized a day long orientation class for trekking entrepreneurs, Senior Managers, Chief Accountant and Senior Accountant at Yellow Pagoda Hotel, Kantipath on 13 and 14 June separately. The training was supported by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).
The objective of the program was to impart essential and knowledgeable skills in VAT & TAX, Company renewal, Tourism Rules & Regulations, new effective accounting procedure, online travel trade business, Global trend in tourism business, staff mobilization and other tourism related issues. The specific topics included Vat & Tax, Existing Tourism Policy, Role of Nepal Tourism Board in the tourism promotion of Nepal, Digital Transformation Trends in Travel, Registration, Renewal Penalty and other provision for trekking companies.
The resource persons for the training were Mr. Dandu Raj Ghimire-Director General at Department of Tourism, Deepak Raj Joshi- CEO of NTB Mr. Sharad Niraula- Chief Tax Officer of Inland Revenue Department, Under Secretary at Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation, and Mr.Prakash Neupane.
Altogether 500 trekking professionals representing various trekking agencies took part in the program. The program was officially inaugurated by Mr. Nava Raj Dahal, President of TAAN and Managing Director of Nepal Environmental Treks & Expedition. The trainees were provided breakfast and lunch on both days.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, President Dahal pointed out the knowledge of VAT/TAX was important for all participants for smooth functioning of the trekking business. “Informed managers mean better revenue generation for the country.” The participants were distributed certificates by President Dahal in the presence of executive members of TAAN.
