Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) organized a 3-Day Mountain Security and First Aid training workshop at Nepal Mountain Academy, Kathmandu on 3-5 December, 2018. The training was conducted in joint coordination with Ice Himalaya President Mr. Maurice Duchene and his team.
A total of 62 trekking professionals participated in the training which was supported Embassy of France in Kathmandu- La France au Népal, Alliance Française Kathmandu, Société Française de Médecine de Catastrophe (SFMC), Association Nationale des Instructeurs et Moniteurs de Secourisme (ANIMS) and Secours En Montagne France. The training was provided by a team of five French professional trainers: Yues Prunier, Magalic JeanTeur, Lucie Cordier, Claude Massuye and Laure De Saint Blanquat.
A closing ceremony cum certificate distribution program was held on 5 December at Nepal Mountain Academy. His Excellency Mr. Francois-Xavier LEGER, Ambassador of France to Nepal, was the Chief Guest of the program.
Extending his warm welcome, TAAN President Mr. Nava Raj Dahal expressed heartfelt gratitude to trainers and thanked Embassy of France in Kathmandu – La France au Népal for their generous support. He congratulated all the trainees and encouraged them to utilize the knowledge and skills that they have acquired to ensure safety and security in the mountain tourism. “The training holds utmost importance producing skillful mountain trekking guides. TAAN will continue to organize the training in future,” said Mr. Nava Raj Dahal who is also the Managing Director of Nepal Environmental Treks & Expedition, which has been organizing treks and expedition in the Himalayas since 1990.
Training leader Mr. Maurice Duchene appreciated all the trainees and advice them to use their skills learned during the training that can help to overcome the uncertainties during trekking.
The Mountain Security and First Aid training has been going on regularly for the last three years. The training imparts knowledge and skills in French first-aid, medical diseases, expedition pharmacy etc.
