Highlights

Overview

Yubra Himal Peak Climbing follows the regular route of the famous Langtang Trek up to Kyangjin Gompa and then heads to the base camp of Yubra Himal. The climb requires 4/5 days of acclimatization and is a really interesting alternative to other crowded peaks.

Yubra Himal peak falls in the Langtang TrekkingRegion of Nepal. It is a very rarely climbed peak with fewer than 10 attempts made since 2002, when the first permit was issued to climb Yubra Himal.

Height of Yubra Himal peak is 6035. The summit offers close up views of Lantang Lirung (7246m), Dorje Lakpa (6990m) Ganesh Himal, Langshisha Ri , Naya kanga and Shishapangma (8027m) etc. Yubra Himal is technically difficult mountain climb and thus requires physical fitness and previous climbing experience.

Trip Itinerary

On your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be met and welcomed by our airport representative. You will be greeted traditionally with flower garlands. The representative will then take you to your hotel where you will be served welcome drinks. In the afternoon, you can take a stroll around and visit shops, restaurants and bars. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Checking your climbing equipments, and discussing the climb with the climbing/trekking guide. Stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

You head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabru Besi passing through Dhunche. Stay overnight at lodge.

The first part of the trail crosses through Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola. This trail gradually ascends up to Bamboo passing through landslide. Thereafter, your trek ascends gently to Rimche (2400m.) through Bamboo (1960m.) which lies at the bank of Langtang Khola. Stay overnight at lodge.

As you continue climbing there are occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung between the trees. At Ghora Tabela [3000m], the trail emerges from the forest. Once there was a Tibetan resettlement project here, but now it is a Nepalese army post though it has no permanent inhabitants. The trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months. Stay overnight at lodge (tea house).

The trail climbs gradually through small villages and yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become more extensive. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangjin. Here, there is a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory. You arrive at Kyangjin by lunch time allowing time to acclimatize and explore the area. Stay overnight at lodge.

This is a day to rest and explore the area. You can visit the monastery and the cheese factory, walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung or ascend Kyangjin Ri (4350m.), directly behind the village, for a breathtaking panorama of the Langtang peaks. Stay overnight at lodge.

This will be a technically challenging climb as you will be using ropes and learning glacier walking. Stay overnight at camp.

Push for the summit of Yubra Himal peak (6035m). Once you reach the summit, spend some time absorbing the panoramic views of mountains all around you before descending back to Yubra Himal base camp. Stay overnight at camp.

From Kyangjin you retrace your route, following the Langtang Khola to Langtang village and on to Ghora Tabela. After lunch, you continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel. Stay overnight at lodge.
