Highlights

Overview

Standing 6257m tall, Mt. Chekigo is graded as strenuous climbing mountain. It is located near Mt. Gaurishankar (7134m) himal in between Khumbu and Rolwaling Valley. Also spelled Chekijo, it was opened only in 2002 and is one of the least climbed Trekking Peaks in Nepal.

Part of challenge of climbing Chekigo is involved in crossing Tashi Labsta La pass at 5755m altitude. The view from the pass offers outstanding panorama of Mt. Tengi Ragi Tau (6943m), Mt.Dragkar Go (6793m) and Mt. Bisphero Go Shar 6729m among others.

The base camp will be set up at 5400m and a minimum of two camps will be prepared before final push for the summit. The mountain is a bundle of snow and rock so extra attention will be needed in walking through rock and snow. A total of 9 days will be spent climbing Mt. Chekigo and returning to Chekigo Base Camp.

The trekking through Rolwaling Valley will provide you a unique cultural and natural experience as the area also falls into Gaurishankar Conservation Area. Trek will be entirely teahouse/camping.
