Cultural Trek to Jomsom

Cultural Trek to Jomsom

Jomsom Cultural Trek is a short and splendid trek in the famous Annapurna region. The trekking trail falls well below 3500m altitude but offers some of the magnificent Himalayan views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

Trekking through arid desert-like valleys and cliffs of Mustang captivates every traveler and gives an impression as if you have reached Tibet. The area is a roaming place for rare wild animals such as snow leopard, Griffon vulture, Tibetan wild ass and Musk deer among others.

On this trek you will visit the ancient trans Himalayan villages of Jomsom, Kagbeni, Tukuche and Kalopani situated on the banks of Kali Gandaki River. This is a perfect opportunity to learn about Thakali community, observe Buddhist culture, and visit ancient Buddhist gompas. The monastery of Chumig Gyatsa or Muktinath located at an altitude of 3700m is one of the most sacred religious sites in the Himalayas. Pilgrims and tourists alike make it here to observe the statue of Padmasambhava, eternal flame and 108 stone spouts.

Another major attraction of Jomsom Cultural Trek is Kali Gandaki gorge, the deepest gorge in the world formed in the bosom of Annapurna and Dhualgiri, the tenth and seventh highest mountains in the world respectively.

As the trail falls under the rain shadow area, Jomsom Cultural Trek is accessible throughout the year. Recently a motorable road has been in operation that takes you all the way to Jomsom and Muktinath. However you can still avoid the road and trek to Muktinath via optional trekking trails. This is an easy trek suitable for all age groups of trekkers and physical abilities.

    Annapurna Jomsom - Beni Trek

We had a wonderful 7-day trek from Jomsom to Beni along the river valley in the Annapurna region. Our guide, Ang Dawa Sherpa, had a comprehensive knowledge of the region, it's history, travel routes a times, mountain characteristics, and alternative options. His English was also superb.

The trek route was beautiful with a varied terrain & variety of vegetation, environment settings. The teahouses were very comfortable and clean. We were pleased that we remained perfectly healthy throughout the entire trek.

Nepal Environmental Trekking covered all of our needs. Nava, was extremely responsive to all of our questions & concern prior to booking and arriving in Nepal. We were thoroughly pleased & impressed with the services & knowledge of Nepal Environmental Trekking and it's staffs.
