Outside Lhasa (Tibet) Tour

 

Outside Lhasa Tour will offer you a visit to two cities that are outside Lhasa: Gyantse and Shigatse. You will visit lakes, monasteries and catch over beautiful glimpse of the Himalayan peaks.  

 

The drive to Gyantse is on a four wheel drive across the astounding Tibetan landscape. En route you will cross the Gampala pass at an altitude of 4794m and then head towards beautiful Yamdrok-tso lake. The pass provides beautiful views of Yarlung Tsangpo Valley. The blue lake of Yamdrok-tso is one of the biggest lakes of Tibet which affords views of Mt. Nojin Kangtsang (7206m). You will likely see bar headed geese hovering over the Yamdrok Lake. Afterwards visit Pelkor Monastery which is regarded one of the largest monasteries in Tibet.

 

The following day you will drive to Shigatse where you will visit 15th century Tashi Lhunpo Monastery. Tashi Lhunpo in Tibetan language means ‘all fortune and happiness gathered here”. The monastery, which is the seat of Panchen Lama, features the statue of Jamby Chyenmu, Panchen Lama’s Gudong palace, Gyeni Chanting Hall among others.
