Located in the north, Bumthang Dzongkhag is one of the 20 districts in Bhutan. Bhumthang in Bhutanese languages means a ‘flat valley of water’. In Bumthang valley tour, your exploration will include Jampa Lhakhang, Kurje Lhakhang, Tamshing Monastery, Konchosum Lhakhang and Lamae Gompa. The 7th century built Jampa Lhakhang Temple was built by Songstan Gampo, King of Tibet. 

 

The Bumthang valley is covered with fields of apples, buckwheat, potato and the people here were once yak herding communities. The Southern part of Bhumthang valley hosts Thrumshingla National Park which is known for black-necked cranes.
