Everest Base Camp tops CNN's destination list

US news organization Cable News Network (CNN) has included trekking trip to Everest Base Camp in No 1 position in its list of best trips for 2011.

"The thrill of high-altitude trekking in Nepal, which was only available only to a gung-ho few, has become more accessible recently," the online edition of CNN states.

According to CNN, co-host of international television show World travels and travel writer Robin Esrcok will lead a 20-day trek to the Everest Base Camp starting from Kathmandu with World Expeditions in April.

The other destinations in the list are Chengdu of China, Ireland, Palau and Borneo.

The positive coverage about Nepal is expected to give a major boost to Nepali tourism industry in 2011, which is being celebrated as Nepal Tourism Year 2011.
