Nepal has successfully and peacefully observed elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies with an overwhelming participation. The elections were held in two phases on 26 November and 7 December 2017.
Nepal’s political transition from a unitary Kingdom to Federal Democratic Republic has finally completed. The elections closely followed the historic promulgation of Constitution approved by the Constituent Assembly in 2015. Earlier this year Nepal also held local level elections for 6 metropolitan cities, 11 sub-metropolitan cities, 276 municipalities and 460 rural municipalities.
With this resounding success, Nepalese are looking forward to lasting peace, stability and economic development. The new government soon to be set up will remain in power for a period of 5 years.
It will carry the responsibility to implement Constitution in both letter and spirit and promote federal system of governance.
All economic activities including tourism stand to develop and prosper strongly with a stable government in power.
