With an objective to raise cleanliness and awareness among locals and tourism professionals, Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) hosted 2nd Cleaning and Awareness Campaign at Swoyambu stupa area June 5, 2018. The campaign was observed to mark 44th World Environment Day 2018 under the global theme “Beat Plastic Pollution; if you can’t reuse it, refuse it.”
Participated by executive members and general members of TAAN, the event focused on cleaning activities in and around Swoyambhu Stupa area along with plantation program. Swoyambu stupa is a popular cultural heritage site of Nepal and one of the world heritage monuments.
The chief guest of the event was Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of Nepal Tourism Board. Other participants included members of Live to Love, Manang Society and students of Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NATHM).
Tourism and environment are closely interrelated. The event drew the attention and concern of all the tourism stakeholders and local people about keeping the environment free of pollution.
