Highlights

Overview

Lakpa-Ri is one of the popular mountains in Tibet province of China opened for climbing. Also called Mt. Xang Dong Fengis, the mountain is directly situated north west of Mt. Everest. The first person to reach the summit of Lakpa-Ri was legendary mountaineer George Mallory in the 1920s while he was attempting to climb Mt. Everest.

This mountain is technically challenging for mountaineers. Climbers are required to have some experience of climbing and trekking in the Himalayas with knowledge of glacier walking and rock climbing.

The route to the top of Lakpa Ri is through Rongbuk glacier via the North East Col route. Much of the trail is through glacier and snow slopes. You need to fix ropes to overcome steep snow ridge on the way to the summit.

Lakpa-Ri expedition offers a stunning panorama of Mt. Everest, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Lhotse etc., along with East Rongbuk glacier and Kharta glacier.

Nepal Environmental Treks & Expedition has been organizing this expedition successfully for many years. We organize all ground logistics from providing professional Sherpa climbing guides to obtaining Tibet visa and mountaineering permit from China Tibet Mountaineering Association.
