Highlights

Overview

At an elevation of 6187 m, Kongde Ri (Kwangde Peak Climbing) is regarded as a holy mountain by the Khumbu region settlers but is open to climbing. Kongde Ri stands prominently in front of the main cultural and market centre of Sherpa life the village of Namche Bazar.

Kongde Ri Peak, first summitted in 1975 is a multi-summit peak and is steep and difficult. It can be scaled by both the south and north faces. All of the routes climbed to date on the Kwangde Peaks are difficult, none have proved suitable for commercial trekking peak expeditions. Experienced climbers who are looking for rarely climbed and challenging small peak in the Himalayas will find this peak very attractive.
