Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek

Annapurna Base Camp trek is often called as ABC trek. It is one of the most popular treks in Annapurna region. This trek is also popular as Annapurna Sanctuary trek. The ABC trek is an adventurous journey to the lap of Mt. Annapurna (8091m), world’s tenth highest mountain, as well as deep into the heart of Annapurna Sanctuary.

The major attractions of Annapurna Base Camp trek is the opportunity to observe 360 degree views of world’s highest mountains including Annapurna I, II, III and IV, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Mt. Fishtail (Macchapuchre) , Gangapurna and Glacier Dome among others.

You will be passing through typical Gurung villages, terraced fields, rivers, streams, waterfall and green hills. The contrasting landscape of dense tropical jungle of rhododendrons and bamboo full of wildlife activities in the south slope of Mt. Annapurna and barren Tibetan-plateau like landscape in the northern slope will mesmerize you beyond anything. During spring, the forests come alive with birds and beautiful rhododendron flowers. Kali Gandaki Gorge, the deepest river gorge in the world, stretching 3 miles long and 1.5 miles wide can also be observed in this area.

The trail of Annapurna Base Camp trek falls in the Annapurna Conservation Area project (ACAP), the largest protected area in Nepal. Thus it is home to 1,226 species of flowering plants, 102 mammals, 474 birds, 39 reptiles and 22 amphibians. The major inhabitants of Annapurna region are Gurung, Magar, Thakali, Manange and Loba who follow Buddhist religion and have unique culture and custom.

The 14 days Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek is considered as the longes trekking program to the Annapuna Base Camp which includes hike to Poon Hill (3232 m). Poon Hill is one of the famous view points in the Himalayas offering astonishing views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains.

The trek starts from Pokhara, a scenic touristic town full of lakes, caves and adventure. You can either fly to Pokhara from Kathamandu, which takes 30 minutes, or take a 5 hours drive from Kathmandu.

Trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (1780m.) takes about five hours. We will descend through Sinuwa and Choomrong. After Bamboo, the trail goes steeply up to the Kuldi Ghar and now the trail is quite flat until you reach Sinuwa. You trek gradually descends to the Chhomrong Khola and you have to follow stone staircase for almost an hour to reach Jhinu Danda. Jhinu Danda is famous for hot spring where you can relax. Stay overnight at lodge.

    Annapurna Base Camp Trek

    Dear Mr. Dahal,
Thank you so much for organizing our trek to ABC in late September 1999. For me it was the absolute experience of lifetime and I am sure that I will be coming back again to your wonderful country this time with my family to spend more time.

Whilst the trek itself was spectacular I believe that a major part of our experience was the great friendship and care shown to us by our guide Rajendra and the porters. These guys were simply the best and added to our trip with their sense of fun and fantastic service. Having a guide, put a whole different perspective on our trip, as every where we went along the way we were made to feel part of a bigger group when we met other guides and porters.……………………

Having someone get you a hot cup of tea, checking you for leeches, checking your room for you to make sure that you haven't left anything behind are all little things that add to your trip/experience.

Once again I would like to thank you for organizing our trek for us and would highly recommended Nepal Environmental Trekking to anyone looking to have an experience of a life time.

You really mean what your business cards say " We serve you with love and care"

This was my second great experience with Nepal Environmental Trekking. The first was about seven years ago to E.B.C. This time I came with my wife to do ABC and had an equally fantastic time. We loved the people, food and scenery and would like to thank Nava and our great trekking team Hari and Ratna for making everything so easy and enjoyable.

    Dear Nepal Environmental Trekking Co.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Nepal Environmental Trekking Co., Mr. Nava Raj , Mr. Ganesh, and especially to the greatest guide around - Dinesh.

We attempted the ABC trek. ……and we have had a great time during the trek, all because Dinesh is a very sensitive guide. he sings to keep our spirits up when we are tired. I don't think words are enough to describe how great a guide he is. We will be back and we will still want Dinesh as our guide.

……We would like to congratulate Nepal Environmental Trekking on a job well done !

    Annapurna Base Camp

The day I arrived to Nepal I was picked up from the airport, comport settaled in right away the company was like a family, great in every way. I highly recommend their service. I chose to take on the Annapurna trek for 12 day the experience was breathtaking, majestic, everything was provided. At time it was strenuous walking but worth every effort. It's great to get away from the city life. As you inbark on a uninterrupted journey by the time you reach base camp. Mother nature has provided the greatest picture ever. You are on top of the world, heaven on earth what a reward. But most of all my greatest gratitude goes towards my guide. We became best of friends between is their was a connection immediate and obvious that he embraces every moment as you would there for we were on the same level from the start.

A wonderful trek to Annapurna Base Camp.

We had a wonderful trek to Annapurna Base Camp. The sanctuary was marvelous with a clear blue sky after sunrise.

Our trek was very well guided by Surya. He is a very experienced porter guide. Apart from that it was a pleasure to be in his company during the past twelve days. Also many thanks to Nava who managed to get us as his clients and who organized the trip very well.
We will come back once again.

We selected this agency from 3 options as it replied very punctual to our requests and adapted the trip to avoid duplicate trails with previous trek.

Anything you would like from a porter-guide and relatives of Yukta live everywhere. We were happy to give a small memory for snow walking.
