Fishing is an entertaining sport newly introduced in Nepal. Nepal has a dense network of rivers and streams, lakes, glaciers. The rivers here are fed by the mighty Himalayas. Hundreds of kilometers of fine and crystal clear waters teem with mahseer, snow trout, fresh water eel, and catfishes. Gandaki, Koshi and Karnali are some of the best rivers for fishing. Angling in such beautiful waters amidst glorious Himalaya scenery is a rejuvenating experience. The playful frolicking of fishes in the Himalayan rivers is a sight worth seeing sight. Fishing can be done throughout the year. However, the best season to go fishing is before and after the monsoon i.e from February till April and October to November. Some popular fishing rivers are Karnali, Betrawati, Indrawati, Babai in Bardiya and Begnas and Rupa Lakes in Pokhara among others.
